Early on, the Roundtable named the need for a principles platform that would serve as a unifying force for the group and a guide for advancing equitable development in the Bronx. BCDI facilitated the creation of the six principles for the table, and community partners drew on other principles or guiding language from their experiences in other coalitions and spaces, touching on issues like environmental justice and private development. The platform also identified four core stakeholders to engage around the platform: community, developers, labor, and government, which reflects the critical roles these stakeholders play in advancing equitable development. Overall, the principles help to advance the work of the Roundtable and ensure that all stakeholders are operating from a shared understanding of what equitable development needs to look like for Bronx communities.
